How GESTA Will Continue to Respond After This EO

Based on guidance from IFPTE, we plan to continue to take action and represent our members in the following ways:

• Bargaining Unit Grievances, ULPs, and Negotiations – GESTA will continue filing bargaining unit grievances on behalf of individuals and the bargaining unit as a whole. And continue to file Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) actions and requests for negotiations.  Doing so will allow us to have a record on file if court cases fall in our favor. We do not concede the validity of any determination under the national security exemption. 
• Other Representative Duties –  Separate from our bargaining agreement, we are still allowed to represent members in Administrative Grievances, appeals to the Merit System Protection Board, cases of discrimination brought to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and in Reasonable Accommodations claims and requests. And provide more general support and advice to employees on any management decisions.
• Weingarten Rights - You may request a representative but you may be denied by management. If denied, you may request a reason for the denial in writing from management.
• Meetings Spaces: GESTA’s official office and conference room space at Goddard may be taken away but we will continue to find spaces to meet with members in person and virtually.
• Membership Dues: Payroll dues are to be discontinued, and in this case we ask members to transition to our online payment method on Zeffy.
  
• Speak to Congress to advocate for NASA’s mission and workforce.
  
• Organize for change in our workplace!
