Transition Your Dues Payments & Email Address

Your union contributions are used for legal fees, outreach events, travel for advocacy work, arbitration, training, IT expenses, and IFPTE’s national-scale efforts. Any expenditure over $300 is voted upon by dues-paying members at monthly meetings.

We have received notice from management that automatic payroll deduction for union dues will be discontinued. We have set up a new online payment platform on Zeffy. Please sign up now to maintain your support and remain a member of the union. We will work with members who transition from payroll to Zeffy to reimburse any double-billing of dues that occur. Members can also choose to donate any extra amount to GESTA. If you have any questions pertaining to dues, please contact us.

And if you haven’t already, please provide GESTA with your best personal email address so we can remain in touch as we transition our communications from government email. 

Message to our Membership on the Collective Bargaining EO

On August 28th, President Trump declared NASA to be one of the agencies that perform “national security functions,” repudiating all NASA collective bargaining agreements in an executive order (EO). Note this EO does not prohibit NASA from having unions. The EO is illegal, and the legality of similar EOs is being fought in the courts. The IFPTE, our parent union, and other national unions associated with our NASA sister centers are working to determine a course of action. WE ARE FIGHTING THIS.

The DRP & Your Relationship To GESTA

We wanted to send a special note to our members who may be transitioning in the Deffered Resignation Program (DRP) program to administrative leave status. First, we honor your service to NASA and wish you the very best in your path beyond. Second, though once you transition to administrative leave status you will no longer be able to serve GESTA as an Executive Council member, represent employees or represent GESTA in conversations with management or the public, nor charge official time for GESTA duties, we want to let you know that you can still:
  • Serve on a volunteer basis on a GESTA committee in a non-public or non-management facing role.
  • As a dues paying member, continue to attend and participate in our monthly dues paying membership meetings remotely.
  • As a bargaining unit employee while on administrative leave, still reach out to GESTA with any workplace questions, concerns or to ask for assistance.
  • In any role while in administrative leave or post-retirement or post-resignation from NASA, still remain informed about GESTA and GESTA-related activities by subscribing to our mailing list using your personal email address at this Google form.
Also a note for our dues-paying members that if you signed up for payroll deduction for union dues, your dues will continue to automatically be deducted from your pay check until your formal resignation or retirement date unless you choose to opt out. But we encourage those who want to remain a part of the fight for NASA, to consider staying enrolled until that date.
